For more than 30 years, the Fachhochschule der Wirtschaft (FHDW) has been a state-recognized and economically independent educational partner. A professorship for the Department of Business Administration is to be filled at the FHDW in Mettmann or Marburg as of 01.10.2025 (possibly earlier). The focus of this varied position is on practice-oriented and academically sound teaching in the areas of insurance, financial services and financial market regulation at the university.
Your tasks
- Implementation of practice-oriented courses in the Bachelor's and Master's degree programs in the fields of insurance and financial services
- Imparting sound and practice-oriented knowledge in the areas of risk management and financial services supervision (insurance and financial services companies)
- Taking over the management of the “Insurance and Financial Services” degree program
- Responsibility for the implementation, further development and marketing of the degree program in close cooperation with the Dean's Office and internal service providers
- Participation in research projects and publications
- Participation in the academic self-administration of the university
Your profile
- Successfully completed studies in economics and doctorate
- At least 5 years of professional experience, ideally proven by relevant employment or self-employment in the relevant areas
- Teaching experience as a university lecturer
- Proven experience in risk management in the insurance industry or in financial services supervision
- Detailed line of business knowledge in personal and property insurance
- Good knowledge of pension provision and investment management
- In-depth scientific knowledge as well as qualitative and quantitative methodology in at least two of the above-mentioned subject areas
- Fulfillment of the requirements of the North Rhine-Westphalia Higher Education Act
- High level of social skills and willingness to work in a team
- Confident knowledge of German and English
