The “Sustainable IT” specialization provides practical knowledge on the design of sustainable IT infrastructures and software solutions. You will learn how companies develop sustainability strategies, implement certifications such as ISO 14001 and Energy Star and what this means in concrete terms for the IT strategy. An important component is the optimization of IT infrastructures, from the selection of environmentally friendly hardware to life cycle management and resource efficiency through virtualization and cloud technologies.

You will also deal with energy efficiency in data centers, techniques for saving energy and reducing and avoiding emissions. In the area of sustainable software development, you will acquire skills in the development of energy-efficient algorithms and resource-saving architectures.

Sustainable IT enables companies to improve their environmental footprint, reduce costs and gain a competitive edge. In an increasingly regulated world characterized by AI technologies, sustainability is the key to future-proof business models. For you as a student, this specialization not only offers a future-proof career opportunity in a growing field, but also the opportunity to work successfully in a sustainable and socially responsible industry.
