Getting your bearings at the beginning
Once you have successfully completed our selection process, you will be given access to our company network. All the companies listed here know our university and our dual study model and are looking for you as a talented young person.
Dou have other companies in mind that you would like to send an unsolicited application to, or have you already found a practice partner? Great, our Career Service will be happy to support you in your discussions with the company!
By the way: If you are unsure which practice partner suits you best, please get in touch with your student advisor. Together you will find out where your interests and strengths lie and at which company you can best apply and develop them.
Preparation is the be-all and end-all
Have you found one or preferably several companies that inspire you and that you would like to apply to as a dual student? Perfect! But before you apply for the vacancies, we have a great offer waiting for you with our application training. Here we make you a pro when it comes to cover letters, CVs and job interviews. You are also welcome to send your application documents to the Career Service for an application portfolio check. This will give you individual feedback on your documents.
Here we go
Perfectly prepared, you can now start your application phase and send applications to all the practice partners you have selected. Remember that it can take some time for companies to review your documents and you may not always receive an immediate response. So, don’t lose heart right away, don’t be afraid to call your favorites and ask about the status of your application. That makes an attentive and interested impression! And if you were able to convince your dream company of you, give the Career Service a short note.

You also have a choice when it comes to organizing your practical phases: spend your entire studies at a fixed company or gain experience in different areas. No matter what you decide, our Career Service will always be there to support you!
Permanent partner company
Work in different departments in your chosen company during your practical phases. This will help you discover your interests, strengths and talents and find your dream job in the company during your studies. With our career entry rate of around 90 percent, the best career prospects await you.
Changing partner company
Design your practical phases flexibly, get to know different companies and industries and make your studies the most varied time of your life. You gain a wide range of experience, make important company contacts and add attractive references to your CV. This makes starting your career child’s play.

A little side note
Even though we do not have an enrollment deadline, we recommend that you apply approximately one year in advance. Because the earlier you apply, the better your chances of getting an internship at your dream company. Are you more spontaneous? Of course, you can also apply to us later.
FAQ
Can I apply to the FHDW without a company?
Yes, this is possible and by no means unusual. We support you in your search for a work placement.
Do I look for a company for the practical phases myself or is a company made available to me by the FHDW?
You will have access to our large cooperation network and we will also be happy to help you find a suitable company. We will also help you with your documents and job interview and support you during the application process. The initiative for applications always comes from you.
Can I also get to know different companies during the dual study program?
In any case! In fact, this is an option that many students opt for. You have maximum flexibility and can decide for yourself when you want to go abroad, for example, or which areas and sectors you want to apply for.
What happens if I can't find a place in the changing system?
Here too, it is important that you start your search early. In general, however, the Career Service is always there for you. Together we will find a solution.
I already have a company where I can complete the dual study program.
Perfect! Simply state the company directly in your FHDW application.
I would like to complete my practical phases at a company that is not yet familiar with the FHDW.
